14 Unique and Creative Romantic Date Ideas
May 25, 2020When love is in the air (also when it’s not), it’s always the perfect time to try out new unique and creative romantic date ideas. Whether you’re in a new relationship or wanting to spend some quality time with your long-term partner, trying out a new way to spend time together is a great way to add some fun to the romance.
Let’s face it, we all know dinner and a movie is a little old-fashioned. And although old-fashioned dates can be fun, we’d like to share a few of our favorite romantic date ideas just in time for Valentine’s Day weekend.
1. Play cards or a 2-player board game together
Not only is this a great way to add some fun and laughter to the date, but it’s also very wallet-friendly too. Pack a picnic and head outdoors or to a local café to challenge your person to a game of strategy and wit.
2. Hit up a farmers’ market and go home to cook together
No matter whether one or both of you are great cooks, there is lots of fun to be had while cooking together. Pop a bottle of wine, put on some fun Italian cooking music and see what you can conjure up!
3. Take a dance class
Dancing is sexy and can be funny all at once. Have fun learning something new together that you can show off later!
4. Wander around a bookstore
Even if you two aren’t avid readers, there is always something interesting to find in a bookstore. If you want to make it really interesting, choose books for one another and then head to a cute spot to read them together.
5. Go on a brewery or winery tour
Who doesn’t love tasting new wines or beers? Or even better, tequila or whiskey? Take a look around your home town or nearby to see what kind of trouble you can get into.
6. Go to the spa together
It’s a fact. We all love to be pampered. Book a mani-pedi or facial with a couples massage and let loose together. This is especially great for couples who work hard and don’t get a lot of time to spend together.
7. Volunteer together
If you like giving back to your community, why not find a way of doing it together? Sign up at your local dog shelter or help with weeds at a community garden. What’s better than time spent together while helping the planet?
8. Go camping
Tent, stars and campfires…it doesn’t get a whole lot more romantic than that. If you’re not the camping types, book a weekend at a cabin somewhere out of town and enjoy the peacefulness of nature together.
9. Go to a card reader or astrologer
Skeptics or not, it’s fun to get your fortune told. Look up your local card reader or astrologer and go to have a peek your future together.
10. Do a puzzle together
Doing a puzzle is a great way to spend some time together doing something fun. It also leaves a lot of room open for good conversation. Bonus points for a bottle of wine or two. Plus, if you pick something pretty you can have it framed and have it be décor for your home.
11. Show each other your favorite spot in the city
Have some fun wandering around in your own city and learn something about your partner’s favorite places. Do they like being up high on a mountain, or lower by a lake? Romantic date ideas where you can learn something about your partner are the best!
12. Head to a nursery together and buy one another a plant
Whether you live together or are just headed out on your second date, exploring a nursery and learning a little more about plants is fun for anyone who’s a nature lover. Plus, you’ll get to add some green to your home!
13. Find a crafts or paint night
Lots of cities are now hosting paint nights and crafts nights. Book an evening to sip on some wine with your boo while getting arts and crafty.
14. Try one of those Pinterest DIY projects you’ve wanted to do forever
Two minds are greater than one right? Head out for all the materials you’ll need and see how well you can work together on “do it yourself” projects.
